Pre-school education

Pre-school education

Early childhood education

At St. Franziskus Kindergarten, we consider preschool education to be holistic and build on the children's world of experience. It begins as soon as the child enters kindergarten and offers different focuses and learning goals according to age. In order to make the transition from our daycare center to school a smooth one for the preschool children, we offer a variety of preschool activities in the last year of kindergarten before they start school.

In preschool education, we encourage the children to explore and understand themselves and their environment with all their senses. In addition to promoting basic skills, it is important to us to encourage the children in their independence, self-confidence and self-esteem. This also enables them to grasp and master the new and unknown world of school. School readiness for us means:

  • Participating in a learning community
  • Self-confidence
  • Joy
  • Arouse curiosity
  • Understanding tasks
  • Language competence
  • Creativity
  • Gross and fine motor skills/graphomotor skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Self-awareness
  • Program to promote emotional and social competencies

Projects for future school children

At the beginning of a new kindergarten year, the prospective school children are grouped together. The group in our St. Franziskus daycare center meets weekly and for various activities.

The aim of these meetings is that the children perceive themselves as future school children and part of this group. Based on their interests and needs, the children and teachers plan and carry out projects together. The children learn to make decisions together with others, to stand up for themselves and their needs, and to develop frustration tolerance.

With excursions and a variety of activities, the children expand their range of experience and explore their surroundings. They also learn to find their way in traffic.

The children plan and design their final activities together with the educators, e.g. final excursion, farewell or also the final parties of their projects.

In concrete terms, this means for our pedagogical activities in the daycare center that we redesign each preschool year individually with the children.

In order to make the transition from kindergarten to elementary school a successful one, we rely on trusting cooperation with all parents and the teachers at the elementary school.

We regularly participate in the cooperation meetings between kindergarten and elementary school in Drolshagen.
