Sustainability
As a kindergarten St. Franziskus, it is close to our hearts to teach the children a responsible and mindful way of dealing with our world. For us, it is of great importance to give them respectful interaction with people, animals and our nature on their way to adulthood.
Through various activities in our daycare center, we want to support the children in growing up to be responsible, reflective and informed people.
In our everyday life and in various projects we pay attention to this by:
- making different natural conditions tangible for humans and animals (e.g. flower meadow for insects, forest days...)
- growing fruits, vegetables and herbs, taking care of them, watching them grow, harvesting and preparing them
- use nature as an inspiration and resource for sensory experiences and our creativity
- be mindful of the consumption of animal foods (in moderation and consciously)
- buy food regionally and conscientiously (e.g. cold cuts from the butcher, reduce packaging/waste...)
- be mindful of other living creatures by feeding the animals in winter and creating habitats for them on our outdoor grounds (hedgehog house, nesting boxes, insect hotel...)
- regularly going out into the fresh air (outdoor area, excursions into nature...)
